Composer, Conductor, & Guitarist / Improvisor

Zachary Seely (*1988) is a New York-born composer, conductor, and guitarist currently living in Leipzig.  He studied composition in New York, Leipzig, and Bowling Green, with Arthur Kampela, Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf, Elainie Lillios, Annette LeSiege(†), and others, & conducting in Strasbourg, Paris, and New York with Jean-Philippe Wurtz, Léo Warynski, Thomas Carlo Bo, and others, as well as classical guitar, and music education. His compositions have been premiered in Europa and the USA. He has received many prizes and scholarships, including the Sächsische Landesstipendien. Seely has been active as a participant in various renowned festivals and masterclasses for new music. In 2017 he worked in Leipzig as the director of the Ensemble des Zentrums für Gegenwartsmusik and in Royaumont with Ensemble Voix Nouvelles. In 2014, he founded Contemporary Insights to support the work of living interpreters and composers. He has conducted and premiered many works for chamber ensemble.

Seine Kompositionen wurden in Europa und USA aufgeführt. Er erheilt zahlreiche Preise und Stipendien, darunter das Sächsische Landesstipendien. Währenddessen nahm er aktiv an verschiedenen renommierten Festivals und Meisterklassen für Neue Musik teil. 2017 arbeitete er in Leipzig als Dirigent im Ensemble des Zentrums für Gegenwartsmusik und in Royaumont mit Ensemble Voix Nouvelles. Im Jahr 2014 gründete er selbstinitiiert Contemporary Insights, um die Arbeit lebender Interpreten und Komponinsten zu fördern. Er hat zahlreiche Werke für Kammerensemble, dirigiert und uraufgeführt.
