Horn

Sonja Engelhardt was born in Coburg, Germany, in 1989. She started playing the French Horn when she was twelve and also received piano and voice lessons. After high school she studied the french horn with Prof. Wolfgang Wipfler and Prof. Wolfgang Gaag at the University of Music Würzburg and finished her studies with Prof. Ab Koster at the University of Music and Theatre in Hamburg in 2014. 

Besides her preference for contemporary music and jazz, Sonja is also working in multi-discipline art projects. She presented her first video-installation „Umbrellas from Hong Kong“ in November 2014. 

Sonja Engelhardt is freelancing as a musician and artist all over Germany. Since 2019 she is part of  the Ensemble Contemporary Insights.

Sonja Engelhardt wurde 1989 im oberfränkischen Coburg geboren. Im Alter von zwölf Jahren begann sie mit dem Hornspiel und nahm außerdem Unterricht in Klavier und Gesang. Im Anschluss an das Abitur folgte ein Hornstudium bei Prof. Wolfgang Wipfler und Prof. Wolfgang Gaag an der Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, das sie bei Prof. Ab Koster an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg fortführte und im September 2014 erfolgreich abschloss. Neben ihrer Vorliebe für zeitgenössische Musik und Jazz arbeitet sie auch in spartenübergreifenden Kunstprojekten und zeigte so u.a. im November 2014 ihre erste Video-Rauminstallation „Regenschirme aus Hong Kong“. 

Sonja Engelhardt ist deutschlandweit als freischaffende Musikerin und Künstlerin tätig, seit 2019 ist sie Mitglied von „Contemporary Insights“.
