Bassist

Daniel López Giménez, born in A Coruña (Spain) in 1995, began his double bass studies at age 14 in the Music School of Santiago de Compostela. He later took lessons with the Galician Philharmonic Orchestra’s principal double bassist Carlos Méndez at the School of Higher Musical Studies (EAEM) in Santiago de Compostela.
After beginning his Bachelor studies in the Superior School of Music and Dramatic Arts (ESMAE) in Porto, Portugal and studying one year with Prof. Florian Pertzborn, he was given the ERASMUS grant to pursue his studies in with Prof. Frithjof-Martin Grabner at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” Leipzig.
He has gained
orchestral experience with professional orchestras such as the Porto
Symphony Orchestra (OSPCM), Royal Galician Philharmonic (RFG) and the
National Basque Orchestra (OSE), and in youth orchestras such as the
Dutch National Youth Orchestra (NJO), Youth Orchestra of Norway
(Ungdomssymfonikerne) and the Galician Youth Orchestra (ONSG),
working alongside conductors such as Michael Sanderling, Juanjo Mena,
James Ross, Robert Treviño, Andrey Boreyko and Paul Daniel among
others and with soloist Truls Mork, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Ivan
Monighetti and Roberto González Monjas among others.
Regarding Masterclasses, he has had the chance of working with Professors such as; Dorin Marc (Nürnberg), Jan Georg Leser (Vienna), Dan Styffe (Oslo) and Ernst Weissensteiner (Vienna) among others.
